BLOGS AND WEBSITES:

Virtual Christine’s  Second life /OpenSim Blog – a blog oriented toward  hypergrid newbies and non techie folk, virtual christine’s somewhat nutty focus is on hypergrid travel and social networking, her work as an Arcadia Asylum Museum curator,  helpful tips on where to get lots and lots of free stuff, and demystifying hypergrid tech.

Miney’s Musings – professional terrain and OAR creator Minethere Always’ blog is a mix of her personal musings, her observations on the hypergrid community, and  really cool travel  destinations. The page also links to her Region Creations website where you can buy her customized terrains, as well as her selection of FREE OARS and terrains !

The Hyperzette– Zaphod Enoch has become one of the most prolific bloggers on the hypergrid, cranking out one or two concise posts a week featuring great destinations and events.

Pings from the Afterlife –  Thirza Embers witty  posts focus these days on her  weekly Hypergrid Safari, but she  has been around OpenSim pretty much from the start, and is tight with most of the movers and shakers.  Past posts make interesting reading, and lend a lot of insight into hypergrid life.

Hypergrid Business– the focus of veteran journalist Maria Korolov’s impressive website is the more commercial aspects of the hypergrid, making her articles somewhat technical, with a big emphasis on flashpoint issues such as content permissions. The comments sections can get kinda wild.  Her “Maria’s World” articles are the most readable to the non technical person, and  she also compiles useful monthly OpenSim Grid statistics.

Metaverse Traveller–  Talla Adams, (also known as Gaga Gracious) is one of the driving forces of the hypergrid. From founding the now 1000 plus strong Google + community OpenSim Virtual, to crowd funding changes to the OpenSim code, to her bots that crawl the hypergrid compiling statistics, and her blog is a smorgasborg of cool virtual stuff; from the latest OpenSim news, to the cultural impact of Oculous Rift. Metaverse Traveller also features useful pages of free downloads and other resources. She can get very technical, but she is also good at explaining things.

DIRECTORIES:

Hyperica– Maria Korolov’s hypergrid directory is somewhat outdated, so finding things inworld can be hit and miss. Features pictures,  region descriptions, listings by catagory, and hypergrid addresses. Like all the directories, it doesn’t begin to cover the thousands of regions on the hypergrid.

OpenSim World is a newish website, where region owners can upload pictures and descriptions to create a listing. Once the listing is created, the owner gets a code. Inworld, the owner installs an opensim world beacon at the landing point, pastes the code into the beacon and tada!! You can see on the website if the region is online, and if anyone is there! Inworld, you can go to the Open Sim Worlds region on Metropolis Grid,  and pick up a  a HUD, which will search out listed regions inworld. Or you can simply use the website as a directory. Features Photos, descriptions, listings by catagory, and hypergrid addresses.

Hypergrid Business Active OpenSim Grids– Maria Korolov’s listing  includes grids that are not hypergrid enabled. Grid names are alphabetized and linked to the grid website. The list itself has pertinent information, such as language etc.  and  is updated every month.
